I got covid this week so with the spare time I had I decided this Sunday I would work on a new personal project, I decided that I wanted to work on a sword from The Witcher (one of my favourite books and games), recently had a character in the book mention a sword called 'Sihil' and noticed there weren't any 3D renders of it so decided I would take it into my own hands. It isn't a 1-1 to the reference because I decided to add some creative freedom to make it more to how I wanted it to look but I think this was one of the better projects I have ended up working on as of late. 10000 Tris, quite high poly but I wanted to retain as much detail as possible.
Here I was trying my best to recreate the textures from the reference image but also making some changes to what I preferred.
Here are my uvs, I used 3 UDIM tiles, one for the blade, one for the guard and lastly one for the grip and pommel.
Blender
Autodesk Maya
Adobe Substance 3D Painter
Cycles Render Engine for the main renders, but also workbench renderer for the non textured render (both are inbuilt and come free with blender)
